“What day is it?”
“It’s today,” squeaked Piglet.
“My favorite day,” said Pooh.
― A.A. Milne
I’m going to keep it brief today, because I’m on vacation and my message is a simple one. As you may know, I am fortunate enough to get to spend July and August in a summer community in Downeast Maine. This past week, many of the families had to head back home to get kids ready for sports and school activities, so we’ve become a much smaller community.
One of the things I’ve noticed that people’s mindset is around summer being over. That it’s all coming to an end. Even in many of the email correspondence I have with business associates, they end it with the tagline, “enjoy these last days of summer”.
Here’s my message: Technically, summer lasts until Saturday, September 21, 2013. If you’ve got children, maybe your summer feels like it’s over after Labor Day-I get that. But don’t wish it away, worrying and fretting about the end. There are still many days, experiences and opportunities to come. Stay in the present and be in this day, in this moment. As Pooh says, “Today-it’s my favorite day”
Enjoy…because it ain’t over yet!
